Day 3 Niagara Falls

Another early start on our Burton Adventure – we were up, fed, and out of camp by 9:15 and we made it to our first destination shortly after 11.

We decided on the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Not quite fine dining but a fun experience for the kids. They loved it.

Once we were were satiated, we applied sunblock and headed to the main attraction. A quick walk to the park, a long wait in the baking sun on a super high bridge. With ponchos in tow we boarded the Maid of the Mist for a voyage into the falls!

We got wet and wetter and I didn’t hear anyone complaining about that. Temps were in the mid eighties and we all needed the cooling off!

Penny wasn’t totally excited (honestly, I think she was scared) and, Griffin, well, he slept through the whole thing. His face was drenched with water and he was out cold. Tom, Tucker, and I were amazed! It was a really neat experience to get that close to the falls and I’m super glad we got to do it! It’s an experience we won’t forget!

Tom and Tucker also hiked up a little closer to the falls when we got off the boat and got even wetter!

We stopped for an ice cream treat before we hit the road, then off to McKean KOA.

What a fun spot. We are within eyesight of the playground and another hop, skip, and jump to the pool.

A dip in the pool and a gourmet meal of pasta with veggies from Tom. After dinner Griff went down easy, and the kids went to watch the KOA movie night, but when I came out of the camper, I found something amazing.

Tom and the two big kids running in a field at sunset with hundreds of fireflies. It was magical. Yes, I know that sounds corny. But there is not a better word to describe the vision of two kids running through — what feels like to them — a gazillion fireflies and squeezing with glee. Magical. That’s what you get.

A late 10:15 bedtime for the big kids – 11 for the adults.
