Day 11 Badlands, South Dakota 2/3

Day 11 was HOT. Let’s just start there.

We were out early and headed to Murdo South Dakota and the 1880 town. We ate lunch in an old train and visited the town as it was over a hundred years ago! The only complaint was that it was hot. 99 degrees is just too hot for kids and exploring.

Next we headed to the Badlands National Park. What an amazing place. It’s purely breathtaking any way you look.

Unfortunately, the temps topped 104 so Tom and the big kids took a couple 5 minute walks but Griff and I had to stay in the car.

Due to the heat, we opted to head into Wall, SD and check into a hotel instead of our campsite.

Also in Wall we visited Wall Drug which is in itself a tourist attraction. It originally was a drug store but they kept adding crazy buildings/additions on and it was a great treat for the kids!

When we put the kids to bed, it was still 99 degrees out at 8pm (oh and we went through another timezone!). We would have been miserable in the camper.
The hotel was comfortable and we all appreciated the AC.
