Our destination today was Dinosaur National Monument. Half of this park is in Utah and half in Colorado. We checked out the Utah Visitors Center and took a shuttle up to the Quarry Visitors Center for the 10:30 Ranger Presentation.
Let me just tell you about this cool place. This area was once a river and when the dinosaurs started to die off and the rivers rose it collected all of the dinosaur bones deposited them in this area. They were then buried in mud and sediment and millions of years later, there’s now a museum with half exposed dinosaurs all over the place.
The kids got hungry pretty quick so we went to the car for lunch. Griffin fell asleep and Penny was tired so we sat in the car while Tom and Tucker went back in to explore the museum for a bit.
When they were done, we did a scenic ride of the area complete with an audio instruction. We learned a lot about dinosaurs and early homesteaders and saw some really neat petroglyphs and pictographs. Tom and Tucker hopped out a few times to explore.
On the way back to camp we stopped for groceries and when we got back we rented the kids bikes to play with while Tom got dinner ready (Mexican Pasta). We ate and then played in the pool. While Tom put G down the big kids and I played mini golf!
